Not always !! That's the first time in a while I've found enough to fillet and only with the help of BB

Ha....it has been slow. I managed to boat a few during last week's trip but had to weed through the goggle eye. Been going back and forth between Houston river and west fork trying to get on em. Definitely not the easiest task.

Wednesday Afternoon Fishing Dogfights
(Established in 1988)
River Bluff Landing

2016
The Wednesday Afternoon Fishing Dogfights will continue its 27th season out of River Bluff Landing (end of Theriot Road in Moss Bluff).
The park is not completely finished but with some help from friends and your patience, I'm hoping that we will have a great experience. Charles Abshire has agreed to help out with a temporary pavilion and a small generator. The entry fee will remain the same as it has been for many years $50.00 for a 1 or 2 man team. Any rule changes will be discussed before the blast off of the first tournament and any changes will be voted on and will remain in effect for the season. The tournaments will begin at 4:30pm and conclude at the time voted on by the contestants each week. The season will consist of 20 consecutive weeks with a Championship Tournament to be held on August 31st the 21st week.

Please, let everyone know this and come join us on Wednesdays. Feel free to forward this email to your friends.

Week 7 -Results

The weather was really nice a bit hot but nice to be in a fishing tournament. The water in the main river looked muddier than it had for the two previous tournaments. All conditions looked like it would be a good fishing tournament and the fish agreed. We had two stringers over 8 pounds. The weather, attendance was really good but the fishing turned out to be really good. We had some quality fish weighed in. Here are the results:

!st Place Team: Nathan Wharton and Nathan Paul (Team Nathan....lol) with a 5 fish stringer than weighed 8.16 pounds. They accomplished the same feat the previous week. Two week in a row with over eight pounds. Their stringer was anchored with a 2.31 pounder that fell victim to a topwater plug and did manage to catch 10 fish in the 4 hour tournament. They caught their fish on topwater and speed craws while fishing the stained water of the main Calcasieu River. They qualified for the Wednesday Afternoon Fishing Championship that will be held on August 31st.

2nd Place Team: Hunter Delaney and Jared Dartez with a 5 fish stringer that weighed 8.04 pounds. Just a few ounces from 1st Place. They had a very nice stringer that was helped by their 2.37 pound kicker, the 2nd place Big Bass of the tournament. They caught a total of 10 fish in the muddy water of the main Calcasieu River on square billed crankbaits and a Whopper Plopper (2nd Place Big Bass). They qualified for the Wednesday Afternoon Fishing Championship that will be held on August 31st.

3rd Place Team: Robert Carlin and Brandon Funderburge with a 5 fish stringer that weighed 7.35 pounds. They fished the stained water of the main Calcasieu while using chatterbaits and frogs. They caught 15 fish in the tournament.

4th Place Team: Josh Grundmann and Tray Mercer with a 5 fish limit that weighed 7.15 pounds. They fished withcraw worms in the stained water of the main River. They did manage to catch 15 fish in the 4 hour event.

5th Place Team: Doug Logan and Lance Wallace with a 5 fish limit that weighed 6.39 pounds. They caught their fish on craw worms in the muddy water of the Calcasieu River. They did catch 9 total bass in the tournament.

1st Place Big Bass: Ethan Fontenot and Jason Fontenot and it liked the way Jason placed a speed craw in front of its 2.75 pound frame. He won some cash and a dozen Big Bass Roses from Wendi's Flower Cart.
.....
