Marsh morning 6/17/16
Brother in law and I hit the marsh early this morning. Got out about sunrise and had a few good hours of partial sun til the heat finally drove us in. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...d6269381cd.jpg
The sunrise was an added bonus. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...ad3bb43ffb.jpg We caught good all morning with the normal mix of a lot of small bass and some keepers mixed in. We fished paddletails, crawfish, and cranks. I even caught two white perch on a paddletail lure in a small canal. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...f57c958f58.jpg We ended keeping 15 bass and two white perch. Also, one of the bass had a baby duck in its stomach. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...e0e2bf0481.jpg I have caught and cleaned bass with mice, crabs, still alive crawfish, shrimp, and fish in their throats, but this is my first baby duck. |
Which marsh?
Looks like a great morning. Thanks for the report. |
Miami Corp. We launch on south side of gibbstown bridge into the marsh.

Congrats on a awesome morning! The duck is just craziness. Heard of it but never seen first hand. Just magazine articles and what not. Thanks for the post.

Nice..... Never saw a duck either. Only in magazines/web. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome, I've actually seen a "baby duck bait" , now I know it may work

Marsh fishing
looks like a great trip to me. I have some friends that live on a narrow ski lake by Bessie Hieghts Marsh and they had a family of baby mallards that they feed. They were feeding the adult birds and one of the babies was snatched right in front of them by a 5 or 6 lb bass. They were pretty upset that all 6 little ones disappeared. I need to go out there with my frog.....
