Offshore wave predictions

I am sure this has been talked about on the site, but wondering if any body uses any apps or sites to predict the seas around Cameron area. Every day I think it will be calm when I hit the gulf "Damn" was I wrong, I have 22 ft bay boat and have been out there quite a bit but not hitting it calm yet this year. Thanks

I use the windfinder app. So far it has worked pretty good.

If the seas are forcasted for more than 1ft it's probably too rough. I like 0-2ft seas forecast, this for inshore 0-15 miles.

The weather station @ Cameron Jetties does not lie, if it's recording 8knot winds, your gonna see 8 knot winds.

I got spanked a couple times trying to make the forecast what I wanted it to be.

Good Luck,

Best thing to do is NOT to use forecasts. Use an app or website that has real time buoy's in the gulf and near shore areas. You can see what the actual wind speed is and not just a guess, before you leave the house.

I used to use the BuoyData App. It has all the NOAA buoy's in the gulf and inshore. But for some reason a lot of them show offline now.

I use Buoyweather.com for work but have a login. Think you can get a couple day forecast without the login. Real time wind is the key. Always check Windfinder the day and morning before leaving as well.

sailflow is a pretty good app for forecast. I use that as well as windfinder and the noaa site. I usually compare all three to each other just to be sure, especially if I plan on going further out than normal
