worms in specks

I fished sabine this weekend and picked up a few trout both days, but, they have white worms in them. anyone ever see this and know what they are, and are they still safe to eat? I pulled them out, but I didn't want to eat anything until I found out about it.

Completely normal. As long as they're not too bad I don't even worry about them. It's more unnatural to catch them without worms.

One of the main reasons I don't target trout. About 50% have worms

That, and they don't put up a fight Come straight to the top.

When you fry them they disappear.

The worms are parasites and are contained in almost all fish. Some are visible to the naked eye and some are not. The ones in specks are harmless and vanish when the fish is cooked to proper temperatures. Although they look nasty, I'll take any that you don't want.

just pick out the ones big enough to grab, the rest dissolve to nothing in the grease.

you "usually" see more worms in summer im told, something about feeding habits or something like that because specks get them most often from eating bait fish that have them and when specks primarily feed on shrimp, odds are much lower they will have any worms

Yep.. toss them in the grease, nothing to worry about. Just a little more protein, but harmless.
