Launch there all the time with a Pontoon boat. It's free and not used much, so the smaller parking lot isn't a problem. Not that far of a run to the bay.

..

i haven't used it in a couple of years but here is my review, good ramp, make sure the bow is still secure till you get to the water and up off the ramp, gravel is loose and thick at the top of the ramp, i have never launched a big boat there but people do, no wake zone through the whole port makes for a tedious ride, always lots of debris in the canals also, ran over a whole sheet of plywood in the canal, but if you are idling it shouldn't be a problem

Get ready to get paint overspray on your vehicle.

Just drive a little further and use the bayou Patout launch and be done with it.

the port landing is ok, but it does have a long idle and is still a pretty long run out to the bay. just like patout landing, I fully expect my truck to have broken glass and radio removed when I get back. maybe a couple tires missing and no tailgate.
if your going to run out to the trashpile/mud point, it might be easier to just run to patout landing, and as a bonus u can pickup some sandwiches in Lydia.

with the hi-rise bridge now, I just run to the point and go from there, it leaves me more options, depending on the wind.

Good launch to run your boat....

Ramp is wide and steep and like others have said, there is probably a 10-15 minute idle before getting past the port where you can get on step. About 8 miles or so straight shot to the bay and you come out just west of Weeks Island. Never had an issue with overspray, but never stayed longer than an hour or two. As for Bayou Patout, it's a small landing and a bit tight for larger bay boats.

Just got back from using the new Delcambre launch today. A 9 mile run to Weeks Bay, but at least you don't have to idle for any of it except right at the launch. $5 charge to launch. Not a bad run except you have to run completely across WB if you're going to the Cove, Blue Point, Mud Point, etc.

Port launch is literally 3 minutes from my house but refuse to launch there because of the large logs and debris floating at all times.
