Options for Secretary of Education ? Jerry Falwell, Jr.

Options for Secretary of Education - Jerry Falwell, Jr.

Like him or not, the fact is Jerry Falwell Jr. may be one of the more qualified options for Secretary of Education who the President-elect really trusts. Since 2007 he has presided over Liberty University which is the largest private, nonprofit university in the nation, the largest university in Virginia, and the largest Christian university in the world. Liberty U. is the fastest growing university in the United States since Falwell took over, with over 6000 employees serving over 100,000 students.

At this stage mos anyone would be an improvement. Since parents aint teaching the 10 commandments maybe they should be on the classroom wall

Falwell

Interesting concept. He might be just what the education department needs. I can hear the left-wings howl already.

Trump likes Jindal. Hopefully Jindal will get this position. I know he is against common core. We have to get rid of common core. I can't even help my daughter with her math homework since they started common core I know 2 times ten equals twenty because we memorized it. I don't need to know WHY

Besides that, we have calculators in our phones now this ain't the dark ages

I would prefer Jindal to Falwell, but I wonder if Jindal would be willing to downsize the Dept of Edu to the degree Trump wants or eliminate it entirely.

Jindal is a proven leader that would definitely right the ship

Jindal is an idiot that got the state where it is.

That's racist because he is Indian

Why would you have a Secretary of Education when he wants to eliminate that Department?

Seems like no one would take that job if this is the case.

I agree that getting rid of it would be ideal. But unless we can get Congress to go along with that in the first couple months, Trump will need to appoint a Sec of Edu that will work for its elimination (if politically viable) or severe downsizing (if that's the best we can do). I think Falwell will do that.

Who else would 1.) Trump trust 2.) Have the Edu background to get approved 3.) Be willing to close it down?

I don't know anything more than the previous passage about Falwell, but my guess is he seems like a business guy, so he'll cut every dollar out of education, leaving our teachers with even less money. I agree the common core can go, also the testing. The testing is hurting our country's kids more than anything else, because the teachers are forced to teach only what's on the test and keep pace with their curriculum. If kids don't know something that they should have learned from previous years, the teachers are frowned upon for going back and teaching them basics... Education is screwed and super corrupt too.. That falwell guys seems like he is captain corrupt, but hopefully I just got the wrong impression
