a 5x5 6 ft tall box blind.. want to put it about 8' in the air.
how wide should I make the base? thanks |
5'x5' then just brace it off with some diagonals on each leg.
|
Make sure ya put feet on the legs or a box support right at teh bottom of them sinkage is important to consider in or neck of the woods. I saw a guy put one up a cople weeks later 3 legs had sunk several feet and one did not sitting on a root and the thing was trashed being caty woompus

Buy Elevators? to mount the legs on
|
i'd say minimal 8'
|
that's exactly the size of mine and the legs are 7' x7' at he ground and tied down with 2' pcs of rebar driven into the ground at each leg and tied to the leg. each leg is a landscape timber that's bolted to the stand and angled out a little.

Sorry warren...
I miss understood you. It was a bad day that day..... |
I always make the base 1' wider than the top all the way around.
4' x 6' = 6' x 8' base 5' x 5' = 7' x 7' base |
Elevators make it easy ... Lil pricey but safer and quicker ,takes out the guess work

thanks
for all the help..
I think I have it figured out ( I'll have to post a few pictures) I sheared up some 10ga 10" and bent it in the pressbrake at 3" to make it look like an angle iron. I cut a 4x4 x1/8" thick. cut it at a 25 deg. angle and welded to the 7" part of the 10 ga. that I had bent. so the bottom of the legs are about 10' apart on a 8' tall 4x4. came out kewl a/f!!! also the 5x5 box blind on the top is made out of some drop aluminum I had laying around.. I'm going to spray foam the inside too I'll put some pictures when I get some time |
