Man the rain has been hurting me at work and my 7days off. Too fresh to fish last few days and got called back to work due to floating roof collapse due to rain . Once I finally got the water transferring to another tank I left it up to other guys to take care of rest. All morning been looking up at the wind sock on crude tower just limp!!! No wind! Out of there at 11-30am and fishing by 2pm. Went to blacklake and only shut motor off one time. Drifted reefs with that east wind and about an hour into it I had one trout then by 330 it was on. Never caught so many 16"-18" black drum in one spot. Easily could of kept a limit and probably should have but I stick to trout and reds mostly. Anyway trout of all sizes and reds were thick in here too. 430 I'm limit out on trout and boxed 3 out of 6-7 reds. So glad I decided to leave work and go get in a good trip. Well over 50 fish caught today for sure. Water looks really good and finally can see my trolling motor. I always say if I can see that trolling motor I can catch em. Live shrimp early but ran out then new penny shrimp under a cork did the job they hit it harder than the live bait! Salt ditch very fresh and muddy looking. Water was high and did not have much of a tide at all but once it did start trickling back out is when the bite took off. Nice easy fast trip. Back home for 530pm.

fishing conditions may be a little worse when it was shaping up to be awesome til rains came. ive caught trout on the reef I fished today but this was first time I pulled a limit off it. so that was cool.

great job thanks for the report!
Question: with rains and fresh water coming down the ship channel, is it typically better fishing in areas not directly connected to channel? This may be obvious to others but im still learning, just wondering if that would make places like Black Lake better in fresher times (and the coves on the W. side of channel too?)
Thanks!

I like black lake, west cove, and joes cove areas when a lot of fresh water is coming down cause of the way I fish now. Remember there is usually saltier water under the fresh water so a lot of guys still bounce plastics with a lot of success in water that looks fresh as it can be.
