Boat Accident
 

Local news up here in NW La is reporting an accident in Big Lake area this morning (Saturday) with 1 fatality and 4 injuries. Sketchy details. Did they hit the Old Jetties or the Cameron Jetties? Prayers for all....

read a facebook report that they were on east side jettie trying to navigate thru the cut from one side to the other and hit rocks

I wonder if they tried to fly thru the cut wide open on step? Most people just straighten up and goose it a little going thru there kinda like going thru the weirs.

I don't know if this is 100% accurate but I heard it was a group of Texas people trying to go out into the gulf. Tried to turn around cause it was too rough, knocked the lower unit off and ejected all 5 people. The woman hit the rocks and died instantly, her husband was life flighted out in critical condition. Not sure how the other 3 are doing.... Very said indeed and prayers for them all.

Must have been real early. I was down there around 6-6:30 and there wasn't any action like that. Sad deal for sure.

I pulled up at launch and saw three boats there and unfortunately pulling the body bag out of the ambulance. It was dark when it happened I know because it was dark when I was coming south of hackberry and saw a new 3/4 ton pulled over with two young women and children driving. As I crossed ferry I stopped at store and left going down Davis road to the launch .... thinking it was crazy to me that 12 boats just crossed ferry to launch there. In the first turn they were parked by shrimp boats on Davis rd on the phone pacing. I went down to launch and saw what I wish I hadn't saw... there was blood on the boat and saw them lifting a ladies purse out the boat..very sad prayers for the family. That truck was to the boat as I went down and turned around there trying to load it on trailer.
