no fish in the reefs anymore
I fished on Sunday in the reefs south of Marsh Island and caught 1 keeper red. The water was pretty in most areas, but it seems the reefs are getting worse and worse. We caught sharks and gafftops.

Agreed and a total shame! Born and raised in Iberia parish, I fished Weeks Bay, Vermilion Bay, Dry Reef and reefs outside the Pass as a youngster and never remember fishing sucking as bad as the last several years! I have lived in Lafayette now for almost 50 years and my go too spot is now Big Lake. A long drive and 12 hour day! Today, left home at 4:45 am and returned at 4:15 pm with a total of 5 specs! Talked to 1/2 dozen fishermen at Calcaseiu Landing and we had best catch! Ten days ago went to BL, caught 75 specs by River Pilots Station and kept a total of 16! A whopping 3 1/2 lbs has of filets! Discouraging!! Hard to believe but fishing is becoming more frustrating than golf!

I've been watching the water in the bay and Marsh Island area. Its been very dirty and fresh all year long. Just recently cleaned up. I wonder if it takes a period of time for the fish to move in once the water clears up. I'm itching to fish the reefs south of Marsh Island.

Doesn’t take long. Reds and trout or on them now.
