Grand Lake coastal restoration
U.S. Senator David Vitter
announced the award of a $10.6 million grant to the Cameron Parish government for the restoration of the Grand Lake shoreline, located in the Mermentau Basin. “This sizeable and important grant will contribute to the critical coastal restoration work underway in Cameron Parish. I’m pleased to see projects like this that help protect our shorelines from further erosion,” said Vitter. The grant will fund the construction of a rock breakwater to halt erosion, which can be as high as 32 feet per year, on the south shore of Grand Lake. The funds were awarded by the Interior Department’s Minerals Management Service through the Coastal Impact Assistance Program. (EDITOR’S NOTE-- Grand Lake the lake should not be confused with Grand Lake the community. The lake is located in the northeast part of Cameron Parish south of Lake Arthur. Grand Lake community is located in central Cameron Parish just south of the Calcasieu Parish line.) |
I seen that they were putting some rocks just south of turners along the ship channel.....I used to catch some fish on that bank
