Ok, who knows the best way? And how long should it take?

salty or blackjack on this board

Been up that way on a motorcycle. We went to Vidor and turned up a highway to Woodville, Lufkin, Tyler and around Dallas, or from Woodville, cut over to Huntsville, then up 45 to Okla.
Depends on what scenery you want to see. East Tx. piney woods or wide open roads.

That's probably the quickest route.

The company I work for has a manufactruing plant in Tulsa and I believe that is the route (Houston) they take when they deliver/hot shot to the plants in the Lake Charles area!

Houston would be out of the way. Turn North at Vidor or Beaumont. Cut at least an hour or more off the trip.

google won't take you off the interstate and most of texas roads are 60 to 65 I would think there is a shorter way

Also try MAP QUEST...

jchief 02-09-2010 08:17 PM

yahoo maps gives a couple of options

I have traveled to Jims Fried Chicken in Mexia, Tx. to pay homage to the big busted Anna Nicole Smiff a few times too. I always went up thru Woodville(good place to eat too) then over to Huntsville and up I-45.
You can be almost to Huntsville by the time you get to N. Houston. If you are driving an 18 wheeler, it might be easier to go thru Houston. But not a normal car/truck.

To get to the Woodlands, TX from here......we would take Hwy 105 north out of Beaumont to miss most of the traffic.

If you want all interstate, you may also look into I-49. When you hit I-20, you go west. When you hit the Tyler, TX area, you cut north. A series of small towns in TX and then, you're on the Indian Nation Turnpike which, I believe has 75mph speed limits. Next stop, Tulsa.

Take 287 from Beaumont. go thru Woodville, Cockett. Get on I45 in Corsicana

This is kinda what I was looking for. I've driven 45 so many times a change of scene would be nice. We used to takle 19 out of Huntsville and Pick up The Indian Nations at the border. Only problem that way to many country folks putting down the road and hard to pass>

Yahoo maps has it at 573 miles.

From My house it is right at 600 miles or 530 miles from Houston.

Thanks for the input guys!!!!!!!!!!
