Big lake today

Anybody fish today? Any reports? Water clear south?

THanks

My dad and I fished 1st and Grand Weirs, LNG and Turner's. Zip. I saw one red get caught on the North side of the 1st Weir. Water is muddy and looks and probably tastes like the Atchafalaya River. I should know. I was raised on it.

jchief 02-19-2010 10:31 PM

thanks for the info. Hope to beat the rain on Sunday for a while.

catch.and.fillet 02-19-2010 10:34 PM

Nice to meet you today Deadly figured it be on the water. Toughest day of the past three three. Waded all day today and all the fresh dirty water finally got to me, called it quits right before sunrise. Several places should have held some fish ( saw bait, current,) and still very few trout.

They are spread out big time!! all I can say..

I need to quit buying corkys and buy some bass gear...

Ray 02-20-2010 01:41 AM

The Bass should be moving into Big Lake in the next month or two, if the water stays this fresh.

Big Lake

Just got back from the lake and it sucked! We fished from 8 til 2. Could have caught a limit of reds but tried for trout the whole day. We went from the north all the way south also in west cove just finished with 6 nice reds. The water does look good south. But I am lost on the specks guess there real deep. Oh ya and I never seen so many people at the wiers when we passed by there was like 15 boats on top of each other.

I was out there today also! I saw a crowd of waders (about 5) off in the distance. I was trying to hit some flounder holes... unsuccessful! The flounder are not in yet! We caught 1 red that barely made 16''. The wind sucked! I'm not going back for at least 3 weeks or until the salinity goes up.

I know some boys I went to school with who caught a buttload of Specks last Sat. offshore. There are still a lot of them, just not inshore yet.

specktator 02-20-2010 07:35 PM

Hmmm. Wonder if that rig I burned em up on this past summer southeast of lake is hot?
