Fishing in the mermentau
I'm new to saltwater fishing. I have caught a few reds but never any specks. Were to start and what to use. We will be fishing on the mermentau in grand chenier. I have a 16ft tunnel haul with a 50 on it. Any help would be appreciated

go to the catfish locks...or hangout around the bridge...havent fished there yet but this is what i heard for this area...use dead shrimp if nothing else works

Dude you can hang mermentau up for a while....no saltwater just fresh running down
|
the specks should be down there around the jettys in the summer, try live skrimps under a pop'n cork
careful b/c some of those small workboats throw HUGE azzz wakes aka "tunnel hull eaters" my favorite thing to do would be to haul past the bank fisherman on that little bulkhead north of hwy 82, watch the wake smash up against it and spray down icechests, tackle, and people. |

should be able to rip redfish pretty good in that area...rockafeller refuge (spelling?) would be a good place to go as well |
