haha awesome how big is he??

we used to do the same thing. I have a 60 gallon tank and i had 2 3inch bass that i had caught in there. So much fun!! They got up to almost 10 inches, but then i let them go. Now my tank is clean as can be with no water in it. Got tired of having to feed those suckers.

fun w son 02-26-2010 11:48 AM

when we put him in he was about 2"-3" now he's about 5"-6". yes you have to feed him 20 times a day!!!!

i want to get a 100 gallon tank to put him in but the wife is putting the brakes on that idea!

DUDE!! They have pet store in lafayette with a HUGE HUGE HUGE tank! You could go snarkling in it seriously. No exaggeration! The glass on it was about 2 inches thick! It was awesome. I'd like to get a saltwater tank and put a trout, redfish, or flounder in it. I think that'd be pretty cool. Even like a sheephead or blue fish would be cool. Anything really lol

I would love to have a saltwater tank, that would be the coolest thing! They have one at Tails N Scales in Golden Meadow with a few redfish in it.

had the same idea but heard the redfish are very messy and would require cleaning quite often, that came from a guy at an aquarium place. buddy's parents used to have a 14" bass in their aquarium as kids always thought that was cool, if anyone wants baby catfish i think i could get you a few.

If you ever want to try another species get you a goggle-eye. They are AWESOME and very mean. They'll chomp on your finger everytime. Our bass knew what our fingers looked like, so they wouldn't bite them unless you'd skim them on top of the water real fast. I tried sacalait once, but could never keep them alive, but again goggleeye are awesome. We used to put like a cup or something in the tank for him to hide in.

And no thanks on the catfish, but they do help keep that tanks clean. We had two little blue cats that would eat all the crap and everything else the bass wouldn't eat. The sucker fish would never last, bass would kill them. They wouldn't mess with the catfish though, especially after that first bite they try to take of them

yep we had a few other fish in there but the bass killed all of them exept a big gold fish, the sucker fish didn't make it 2 days.

haha yeah.. I tried to buy the biggest baddest sucker fish i could find. That still didn't work.. thats when i got the catfish. But if you ever catch a goggleeye that isn't too much smaller than your bass, you should put him in there if your tank is big enough. The goggleeye usually stay in one area, they don't swim around a lot like the bass do.

My cousin had a pet bass, fun but more work than you would think, they eat a lot. I enjoy the tank at Bass Pro. Mrs. Elaine at Calcasieu Pt usually gets an assortment for her tank from the shrimp trawl. She told me that she had to avoid trout and reds because of the size limit thing, plus they don't survive. I would think that they would be OK for educational purposes. WL&F guys are in there a lot. Most fish don't live very long in the C.P. tank. Cocahoes did the best. Crabs are fun to watch. Each molt they almost double in size.
