good sunglasses?

Looking for some good glasses to wear while fishing. I always seem to get headaches from wearing glasses all day fishing. Ive never really tried the higher ends because I didnt want to spend the money and end up still with the headaches. The only Pair Ive worn for a good while w/o headaches,is a pair my mom gave me from hawaii, called maui jims, but they are a little dressy to wear fishing. My brother in law just bought a pair of wiley x. Anyone know anything about these? Supposed to be military specs and supposed to be great. Ive heard lots of you rave about the costas too. Just wondering what yalls thoughts are. tanx

damn i wish i could have got that deal

speck-chaser 03-01-2010 01:02 PM

main thing Im worried about is the headache situation. Not sure if its from the wind, the arms of the glasses against my temples or what

Fishmaster 03-01-2010 01:07 PM

are you drinking enough?

speck-chaser 03-01-2010 01:08 PM

I try to stay hydrated.

i have the oakley half jackets with polarized lenses, this is my second pair of lenses and as long as I dont break my frames or they quit selling lenses im sticking with them. Still hard to say if it would help with your headaches.

maui jims or costas are what i have used for 5 or 6 years...like Bruce said I wish i bought them a long time ago.... Its all about what fits your face right

speck-chaser 03-01-2010 01:09 PM

I can wear the shades for a while, but hafta take em off and on during the course of the day. Just get tired of squinting all day

FF_T_Warren 03-01-2010 01:10 PM

yea costas are the way. honestly though, I had a pair of 400 costas and they were great. I bought a new pair of 580s cuz the frame fit a little better and if im not fishing, I really dont wear them cuz the lenses mess with my eyes. I cant really explain what they do but I just had more visual comfort wearing the 400s. I can wear either one on the water all day but off the water is where I notice the difference.

I know that sounds nuts but has anyone else experienced something similar?

FF_T_Warren 03-01-2010 01:12 PM

oh and btw make sure you dont get lil cool looking metal frame ones. while off the water riding in your vehicle those are great and cool but they dont cut it riding in a boat, wind whips all around em into your eyes

adamsfence 03-01-2010 01:12 PM

i have oakleys and love them but i don't like taking them fishing. i seem to loose stuff. i bought a pair from academy the other day that i lost this weekend they were 9.99. they were very comfortable. i am very picky about my glasses. i get headaches too if they fit me to tight or the nose piece is to tight ( the nose piece is a big deal they have to be very light for me)

scatv 03-01-2010 01:15 PM

I too rather the 400's I got rid of all my 580's. I think the weight of the glass is what made me go back.

blackmamba 03-01-2010 01:18 PM

I use Maui jims with the then frames and the wind does get into my eyes slightly but it's not too bad. I have to wear glasses to not get a headache and these are the only ones that do that. The are superlight and you can't feel them on your nose or ears or temples. Maybe to dressy for fishin but it's better than a miserable headache on the water

may be Idk. but I know that my next pair will probably be more 400s. Ive owned 2, first was metal frames which my dad now uses and those I had no trouble with, the second pair I had the frames were too small and gave me a headache. and these I have now are the 580s and as I said something screws with my eyes. my next pair will prolly be the same frame I have with 400 lenses

FF_T_Warren 03-01-2010 01:22 PM

heck matter of fact if you interested in buying my harpoon580s I'll sell em to ya for what it will cost me to get the same in 400s. they are only 1 year old and have no flaws on them. u interested? itd be 199 for a pair of 400s. so $200 and they urs. like I said they rarely been used and less than a year old. they black with blue mirror glass 580
