Pen and paper, take notes

I got the cliff notes ahead of time...compliments of LSM. I really want to find out the answer to the age-old question "Just how many weirs are there? And do they call them 'weirs' because 'weird' people hang out there????":spineyes::spineyes:

The best fishermen I have met on the lake were from Texas and fishing next to them will make a person feel like it's there first time fishing.

Ray 03-03-2010 06:56 PM

I will be there tomorrow around 1 pm.
I got 3 extra tickets. My buddy backed out and HR&G sent 4 instead of 2.
Anybody need them, let me know.

Ray 03-04-2010 09:45 PM

Got rid of the extra tickets.
Got to Houston at noon. Early was the trick, still not a lot of people there.
I hit the Big Nasty booth, told them I got some Big Nasty's from Micah, they showed me the new ones too.
Hit HR&G, they showed me the HH and gave me some TTF Trout Killers.
Hit TTF and looked at the new Sweet Baby Ray's. They look good. I also checked out the new jig heads with the double hooks. I was the one in the brown shirt who played in the water tub with all the lures. Next time they need a bigger tank like Stunt Grunt.
Hit the Stunt Grunt table. He had a big tank with lures on a line to play around with. Pretty nice. Of all the lures, I think that Hackberry Hustler is gonna be some kinda fish catching sumbeetches.
I took a tackle box survey, no name or phone number, and got $5.00.
Got a couple big really nice Yozuri topwater plugs. They was fine lookin lures.
Got one of them things you put in your ice chest so when you pull the plug, it will drain. Ice and other things won't stop it from draining.
Checked out the new Shimano Crucial. 6'9" with a Core on it weighs just 9 oz. Incredible.
Saw a super fine 19 ft. Triton LTZ. Made me get wood.
Checked out Flounder Pounder booth. Them boys had a couple good lures, but they also had a lot of BULLSHEET with them. I am not sure they even know how to catch a Founder.
Got a Livingston Lures jerk bait that looks and sounds like a Croaker when in the water.
Got some rattles to put in soft plastics.
Got a lot of business cards.
Saw 4 or 5 Big Lake guide booths.
Traffic was great, all the way over there and all the way back.

I did see some nice looking reels from US Reel. But the salesmen were not too informed on what they were selling. They were not sure if they were good for saltwater, but they did say they had a 3 year warranty. I asked if saltwater damaged the reel, would they warranty it and they didn't know.
I also asked where it was manufactured, they said China. I asked why is it called US Reel? They didn't know and got nervous about that question.
They had a nice design, but were a little too heavy feeling and the better ones were a little too bulky. They didn't have any mounted on rods, so that didn't make it any better for them.
I will stick with Shimano for now.

us reels

Ray,
The few folks i know that have tried these reels have said they cast great but they don't stand up at all to salt or any abuse .

That's what I figgered. If they didn't know, why sell them. Or they did know, but didn't want to say anything, so they could get a sell.
The Shimano's are way lighter feeling and a lot less bulky.
