Big Lake Redfish Skinny??

I noticed yesterday afternoon that all the Juvi redfish were skinnier than usual and even a couple on the keepers didnt have the normal girth.

I guess all this fresh H20 or cold winter hurt their food supply.

Anyone else notice this?:(

Lol. Aint that the truth D

I agree with D, there's not much food for them. Some of the reds that I caught at the weirs were full of tiny little fish, 1/2" minnows. There are a good number of big mullet in the lake (big trout) but probably not many shrimp (smaller trout).

Skinny due to running from Ray...

when do the shrimp usually start coming in the lake?..the fish won't be the only ones getting fat off the shrimp lol

Ray 03-06-2010 07:02 PM

Won't be long. Flounder and shrimp should be moving in as soon as the water starts warming up.

The shrimping is not too good out in federal waters right now. They must be farther out.
I am waiting on a report when the shrimp get closer to the beaches. Then it will be on...
