Back Back Back Back

Just got a call from a good buddy fishing the weirs and the wardens issued them a ticket for each person in the boat b/c they were too close to the weirs. Anybody ever gotten one or have any idea how much that's going to cost them? They got a total of six tickets between two boats. :*****:

The fishing is okay but nothing special. Each boat has 5 or 6 since daylight. On a stranger note the warden told them he caught a limit of specs (I call Bull ****) yesterday but would not tell them where. Has the fishing picked up?

I know someone that got a ticket there like 2 years ago. They had 4 in the boat and each like you mentioned got a ticket. I think it was around $100-150 per person. That turned out to be an expensive trip.

$225 for the ticket and no chance of getting it fixed. I caught a limit of trout also yesterday but had to grind all day in waders to do it.

Jsmoke got one last year. I think he got hit for $225 also.

Yep. $225. The fine is $200 & there is a $25 processing fee. This is a Federal violation. You can't just send in the money right away or call someone & get it fixed. They will send them some paperwork via certified mail with instructions on how to pay.

we were told today by another boat that the first weir is not the same as the third and fourth. That because its not part of the refuge, that it is private land there you can get close to it. Does anyone know if that's true.

Ouch, I'll never do it again. Was it Grand or Lambert's? Not that it matters. I've trolled up too close to unhook a snag before. Sometimes it hard to break Power Pro. Guess I'll just cut it. Sorry that it happened to you.

Yes, that is correct. You can get as close as you want to the 1st & 2nd set of weirs. The weirs belong to Cameron Parish gravity drainage & the marsh behind them is private property & is posted. You cannot get on the weirs.

I'm not sure how your friends ticket was written but my ticket had the violation of fishing in a closed area. In the comment section of the ticket the game warden wrote "fishing behind posted SIGNS" This was @ Grand Bayou. There is only 1 sign @ Grand Bayou on the outside of the weirs. If your friend is brave enough, he might get it thrown out on a technicality. I just bit the bullet & paid the fine though. I'm not that brave & I didn't want to push the issue after just dropping $38k on a new boat!
