Calling in sick

Do you fake being sick? Or do you tell the truth ? Do you call in "sick" often ?

longsidelandry 03-07-2010 07:44 PM

I don't call in often so they usually believe me when I do call in.

Then I hang up the phone and either climb into the deer stand or crank up the boat :D

I can do that at the place I'm working now, he lets us use our "sick days" when something comes up suddenly....like good weather

Last 2 times I called in sick, I had back surgery.

Gerald 03-07-2010 10:28 PM

Most of the time, I had vacation days to burn and could just tell the boss that I was going to take the next day off.

In my last job.....I had ~ 25 hourly guys working under me. Several times I would hear that someone would be trying to swap a shift to be off on a certain day. Then when that day came....the person would call in sick. I should have given them a few days off or fired them and put a stop to that.

I never call in "sick". I try not to lie. So I call in and say I cant come in cuz I have some stuff I have to take care of.

I mean if the weather is good, you HAVE to get hunting and fishing taken care of before the weather gets bad. Thats not lying is it :)

I don't call in sick I have set days of fishing for the month, like in April 7th and 8th and 9th. I'll be at Toledo bend and I'll let them know ahead of time, My employer knows I fish every Saturday and i'm not leaving any earlier than 40hrs of work anyway. I need the money.

I only call in sick when I'm sick. I made a joke a few weeks ago about doing that and came down with a sinus infection the next day. If I even think about doing anything wrong, I get immediate reprisals from Above. Just more of a reason to keep my nose clean and be a good boy.

I normally build enough Vaction time since I work out of town alot, so I just use that.

Have a buddy(Sean) who works at a refinery(shiftwork), he's low man on seniority, Christmas was his scheduled day off, a week before one of the guys on the opposite shift was griping about having to work Christmas day. Sean told me, watch he'll call in sick & I'll have to cover. Sho nuff, Christmas morning he got called out for a 12 shift!:pissed:

I asked his name cause I wanted to beat his azz!!!!!!!!!!!!! That sucks!
