transporting rods

for those of you that have bay boats do yall leave your rods in the rod holders on the console while trailoring......i have always taken mine down and put in the bottom of the boat. but it scratches my reels bad. Just wondering if yall ever loose any rods by leaving them in the holders

LaAngler 03-23-2010 01:29 PM

mine ride shotgun in the truck with me, or in the rod lockers in my flats boat

RaginCagin 03-23-2010 01:32 PM

I usually leave mine in the rod holders standing up. I put mine in the back of the truck when I went to toledo bend last weekend and scratched the mess out of my reels. Wont do that again without covers on them.

adamsfence 03-23-2010 01:32 PM

i don't think mine will fit in my truck.....normally i have 2 or 3 people inside. and i don't have a rod box. guess i should have got a bigger boat

adamsfence 03-23-2010 01:40 PM

noone sits up front

Ducktrickster 03-23-2010 01:42 PM

Back of the truck with rod and reel covers.

adamsfence 03-23-2010 01:44 PM

LaAngler 03-23-2010 01:47 PM

i like mine locked inside when i stop at stores for food/fuel

adamsfence 03-23-2010 01:48 PM

I'm about to make a few "SpecDaddy Dandy Rod Holders" for myself. Stop by my office and I can show you the drawings of them. When I had a bay boat I did snap 2 tips and left one hanging from the drive thru at a Wendys. Now I just stow them in my rod boxes but was never a fan of leaving them in the boat on the floor or in the rod holders

RaginCagin 03-23-2010 02:06 PM

Wish I had rod boxes. The storage on my fishmaster sucks:(.

BMTAngler 03-23-2010 02:13 PM

I have reel covers and throw them in the back of my truck

FF_T_Warren 03-23-2010 02:15 PM

Go to CPI designs and order u some aluminum rod rockets that mount in the truck bed. Hopefully I'll get me one soon. I think they $125 maybe even less

adamsfence 03-23-2010 02:20 PM

so yall think they would fall out if i left them in the rod holders on the console

Micah 03-23-2010 02:21 PM

You got to worry about low hanging tree branches too, know a guy that lost a couple by the tip of the rod hanging up in trees and never seeing them again.

So do mine,i'm afraid a rock may hit one of my Waterloo's and break it in two riding in the boat's rod holders.

Shawn Braquet 03-23-2010 02:29 PM

when i lived in lake charles mine road in the rod holders in the boat but never got over 60mph, never had a problem other than the already stated height restrictions

RaginCagin 03-23-2010 02:35 PM

The only problem I ever had carrying them in the rod holders was a hook coming loose and making all of the rods a tangled mess.
