rockefeller refuge fishing

I was thinking about going to rockefeller refuge, putting in at joseph's harbor. I have never been there so I was looking for any input. Is it worth the drive are not. If so where is a good spot to try there. I'm going for reds, specks, flounder, crabs I'm not picky. thinking about going there Saturday since the wind will be so bad in the lake.

Better than putting in at the Roll-Over......I fished there once in my life down the famous "Bertrand Canal" never going back again.....

Good Luck.

I would not back down Roll-Over with a larger boat over 20'.....you could lose the axle on your trailer. Overall, if you fish Big Lake, Dularge, and other area like that and venture down there, you will have a rude awaking...:D LIVE BAIT IS A MUST!!! Good Luck!;)

Rollover for smaller boats....but @ times you can catch some reds...

contact Speckdaddy, he used to fish that place non stop

Rockefeller has some good marsh ponds and canals to the east of where most people fish. I fish out there a few times a year and tear up the reds. Only problem is it gets very shallow in some spots.

rollover is right across the street from where we hunt...i see people catching reds off the side of the road right there all the time

Not true. I fish there often and never have needed to use live bait. Spinnerbaits and gulp are deadly ther on reds much like they are at any other place. You just have to find the fish.

Again I was only unlucky enough to fish this great area once. My comment on the live bait was because 99% of the people we saw fishing there was using it. We used plastics and caught a few fish.....

I have no problem with you giving advice without any facts as long as you let them know that you have no idea what you're talking about.

Launch your boat at joseph's harbor. Head to the "t". Take a right an go all te way down till it dead ends by warden camps. Work that bank and point by camps with gulp white 3" shrimpand tip with market shrimp if u want. Also heard they are smokin em at the LSU weir.

If you are the fish expert there well good for you. Trust me, you do not have to worry about me potlicking your hot spot at that OXIDATION POND. As stated, been there once and never going back. I made a comment about live bait there being the ticket. BTW, I was told this from a few people that fish that area a lot. You acted like I attacked you or said something towards you in a negative way. I know you have an issue with me becasue of my comments in the sports section; however, I could care less!:D

Specktator, you mentioned live bait "market swrimps" so you better watch out ducktricker may try to call you out. Well come to think of it, since you are an LSU fan he will give you a pass.....:*****::*****:If I were only that luck....:*****:

specktator 03-26-2010 12:58 PM
