Permit asked for marina in Hackberry

The project includes a 120’ x 90’ metal boat storage building, a 220’ x 60’ boat house with 36 floating boat stalls, a 360’ x 90’ boat house with 36 floating boat stalls, a 400’ x 25’ boat house with 33 boat lift stalls, a boat launch ramp, a boat launch lift, approximately 1,450’ of bulkhead, a retail store with a wood deck, one 50’ wharf, one 100’ wharf, one 260’ wharf and one 280’ commercial wharf.

Jeeze um Pete is there that many boats over in the west that need storage

Bluechip 03-27-2010 01:06 PM

I don't know about storage but there are a lot of us "west side" guys on Big Lake....

My neighbor is opening a bait shop and store on the hackberry side too.......should be up and running this month.......I think he purchased an existing shop, but not sure......

B-Stealth 03-27-2010 01:36 PM

Ray do you know exactly where the proposed site will be?

I think he could build 200 lifts and have no problem filling them.

Hope it works out.

Ray 03-27-2010 01:43 PM

I don't know. I just know he requested a permit from the parish.

I don't see a permit request for digging a canal? I wonder how will a boat get to open water?

Ray 03-27-2010 05:36 PM

It may be somewhere up the Kelso Bayou.

The same way Ray and Reelbender did in West Cove.:*****:

Sorry Ray.:D

That will attract more offshore boats. It is almost an hour to get from Lake Charles to Hackberry with all the speed ups and slow downs along the ship channel.

I just stumbled across this, boat stalls will be on Choupique Bayou. Go to link for more details.

If it is truly @ 27 and Choupique Bayou, it'll fail due to lack of water. On low tide, it's a narrow channel where it connects with the ICW. There's a landing on the north side of the hwy advertsing slips for the past year. It's empty.

I hope this gets turned down....

Why?

evis102 03-29-2010 11:46 AM

Because every stall will fill and there will be that many more people running all over the lake without a clue.

Ray 03-29-2010 11:52 AM

If there are new stalls built or not, there will still be boats all over the lake.
Not having a place to store or hang a boat won't stop people from fishing.
It will just make it a little harder to get into the lake to have to launch.

Something that big can only be good for the community.... it will funnel more money into the local economy, create jobs to build it, people will work there, create another outlet for local bait fishermen to sell more bait... the same number of people will fish the lake just some will store their boats there now....how can this be a bad thing? but that is typical for a large portion of Big Lake fishermen most of them think they own the lake
