Stained to muddy water...no one I talked to including me and my bud caught specs...we did manage to boat 7 nice size reds beatin the banks on the south end of big lake. Believe me when I say we tried everything for specs (croakers!!!)

are the croakers moving up into all the coves pretty thick now?

seems like the trout are in another transition period.....going deeper

trout

Big trout was slow, but we caught 45 pickles under birds wed. best bite is from
11-3 after that seems to be zero tide.

well the wind sure does suck but we managed to get a few good sized trout and a couple of reds. water clarity was horrible guess from the wind. Only fished the south end west cove and jetties. guess with the wind and mud we was lucky to get these.

SULPHITE 06-14-2009 04:33 PM

:)Not bad at all considering the conditions!!

All this talk of dirty water in Big Lake, must be coming from the wind and lots of boats.

I was fishing up near I-210 bridge on Thursday and the water is nice up there.....about 8" to 12" visiability. Salinity is about 6 ppm but tasted more like 3 ppm.

adamsfence 06-14-2009 06:07 PM

don't know about north i stayed south but it was muddy. the cleanest i seen was on the north side of the island in west cove and it still wasn't that clear

Austin(boatman's son) 06-14-2009 07:19 PM

the calcasieu river is clear. Well the west fork, you can see at least a foot down if not more

huntin fool 06-14-2009 08:21 PM

its bout 3 ft visibilty right now when sun is up on the west fork.
