Cane River Lake

1 Attachment(s)
Hit Cane River Lake on the southside friday; caught a good bit of bass despite the wind. Texas rigged plastics on the deep banks and topwaters on the shallow banks. Topwater bite was good well into the morning. They even like to eat “baby specked trout” lol.

nice fish man.. Is that the Cane River in Nat****oches because y brother goes to school in Nat****oches and I'm going meet him for the weekend. He always talks about Cane Lake. What soft plastic did you catch on? And did you see any on beds?

We've been going to Indian Creek.. we saw some MONSTERS! But couldn't get any to bite. Caught many smaller fish on beds. Friggin awesome lake, its CRYSTAL clear lol

dont ask why they put astericks on Nat****oches

Choupique 04-06-2010 09:32 AM

yea thats the lake.

All the locals swear by baby brush hogs, but I was getting them on a blue/black culprit worm. I would also bring a frog or two for the slime areas; we saw some big gals up in there laying the smack down.

cool deal!! All stuff i always have with me, especially the frogs!! How big was that fish you have in your hand. Looks like a solid 4 possibly pushing over 5 eh?

Sweet fish tho.. i hope we can have the same luck. How many did you end up catching?

Choupique 04-06-2010 10:22 AM

I don’t know how big it was... maybe 3.5 or so. I only bass fish maybe 10 times a year.
Hard for me to judge being a speck and red guy.

jpeff31787 04-06-2010 10:53 AM

well i bass fish more than speck and red fish and it looks like an EASY 4. We'll go with that lol How many did you guys catch?

Choupique 04-06-2010 11:23 AM

11... but I dont think they were biting as good as they usually are. One boat we talked to had caught 1.

Safety course

Did you complete a boating safety course before operating on Cane River? When i attended Nortwestern they implemented this rule that everyone must attend a boating safety course before operating on Cane River. I dont know how strict they still are about it, but at one time they were writing tickets for not having a cert. :)

This came about before the new reg. I was born in 75 and was required to get one. Here is a link to the rules.

You do know that you need to take the boaters safety course to legally operate a boat right?
