Cant help you with specific spots that far south, but I can tell you that where I catch this time of year is under the piers that are very close to the river. And that are close to a cove or canal. Just flip a shinner under the peir and let it sink till it hits bottom. Then real in very slow. Next time try to stop it just off bottom. They usually wont hit the shinner hard just suck it in and start to swim away. Try to find some that are in at least 15 feet of water and have a cover on the peir. The bigger the better. Start at daylight and fish until around 10:30 to 11:00. The bite pretty much shuts off around then until just before dark. I dont know why jigs dont work for me there, but I try every year and still can't seem to get them going on jigs.
