offshore job
 

I am looking for suggestions. I work on land now as an operator and I have been offered a job offshore 14/14 as a contractor on a subsea production platform and I have never worked offshore the money is better and will get better. Right now I work 5/2 and on call some weekends not much time off. Just any thoughts of going offshore should I give up my job on land for the extra money and be gone for 14 days. some of you guys that work offshore help please dont know what to expect. thanks

I have over 25 years offshore. I don't know anything else...

I look at it this way............I work 28 days which is a long time, BUT I am off for 14 days.............and when I am off.......I AM OFF...........I have a full 14 days to spend however I want and the money is great too.

If its Subsea... take it... Subsea wells is the new oilfield.... Its getting bigger

That is correct. It is the future of deepwater oil and gas production.
About 2/3 of Shell's production is from subsea wells.

Take it and let me have the job you have now:cheers:. I have been looking for a job where I can be home nightly.

My uncle is a subsea engineer... He does pretty well... My other uncle works 14/14 and loves the schedual and te time off

My hat's off to all you guys/gals that make your living offshore providing energy to the nation. I honestly couldn't do it. When I go to the hunting camp for 3 days , I get 'homesick' and have to rush home to see the wife/kids/dog not specifically in that order. Oh crap, there's the old lady, x-out, x-out...

Don't forget W........he flies the astronauts to the moon and stuff. Hopefully, one day he'll take a trip, himself. :smokin:

I work 6. Paid for 7 get 7 off.....I'm in gas and oil measurement...10years in Feb... 6 weeks vacation so I only have to work 20weeks a year...... Love my job and don't plan on doing anything else
