Binoculars
I'm looking to buy a new pair of binoculars and was wondering what everyone on here uses. I hunt mostly in LA, bow and rifle, but do make a trip once or twice a year out of state. I'm not looking to spend more than $1000.

I went to North Dakota several years back where binoculars are a must, the guys that hunt in that open country most were using Nikon 10x50, I bought a pair while I was there, don't remember what I paid for mine but I know they were no where near a $1000. I've had them for 6 or 7 years now without a problem.

I bought some 10x45 Leupolds from Academy a few months ago. Used them in Wyoming a few weeks ago. Very clear and a spent around $225 on them.

Matter of fact my dad had some oversize Zeiss 10x42 that he paid over a $1k for about 6-7 years ago. He didn't like them cause they were too big. I got $750 for them on eBay and we used the money to each buy a pair of the Leupolds.

Thanks. I'm thinking about the Zeiss Conquest 10X40. Any body have a pair of these?

I have a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x50 scope on my rifle and love it. I'm sure they are the same.

When I was big into hunting all the guys I hunted with used Steiners until they switched to high dollar Zeiss binos. The Zeiss are amazing but IMO aren't worth the extra money unless you need series glass - i.e. you'll be on them your entire hunt viewing mtn ranges or large bean fields. Plus the Steiners are completely armored with integrated lens covers. Don't know how many times I have dropped em and have never had any issues. |
