Binoculars

I went to North Dakota several years back where binoculars are a must, the guys that hunt in that open country most were using Nikon 10x50, I bought a pair while I was there, don't remember what I paid for mine but I know they were no where near a $1000. I've had them for 6 or 7 years now without a problem.

Nikon would be a great choice for the under $400, probably the best for any amount of money.
Might find some big game forum classified sections if you want to find a used Highend pair;Svorsky (sp),Leica,Zeiss.
