Smile It's Stuff Like That

Made me quit fishing fresh water. A while back , me and my Dad were fishing Sacalait and we were close to a Cypress tree , and my Dad stood up in the front of the boat and I was in the back, well a damn water moccasin fell , luckily in the middle of the boat , it was a open skiff. He had the paddle and he hit that thing a million times.I hurried and grabbed it, and threw it overboard.Phew! that's when I said never again.lol talk about stink! them things got a musk gland that puts out a putrid smell. you usually can smell them before you see 'em, but not all the time.

I was thinking water snake but wasn't sure. I caught a good number of them in crawfish traps last year though, whatever they are!

Rita removed all snakes from the Cameron and Creole area, but they are starting to come back. First 3 years after Rita, I saw only 1 Congo Moc. in our marsh. So far this year, I have seen a dozen or so.
That looks like a water snake to me too. But I don't like them either.

My friend at Lake Mary kept his Crocs by the back door so he wouldn't track mud in his R/V. And you know where this is going. He stuck his foot in the shoe to be greeted by a ground rattler 5 or 6" long. Took a hit to his big toe and ended up at Lane Memorial Hospital.
