I won the kayak division in Grand Isle last year with a 3 lb trout. that is where you need to go.

we fished the mouth of south pass 2 weeks ago and had mulitple blowups and split second hook ups from sharks hittin our tw. one of em crushed the bait all i had to reel in was about 1" of a super spook and the eye where you tie the string! a few others were punctured . one of the blow ups i saw at least 5 ft of shark and it wasnt evn 1/2 out the water, it was pretty cool to watch at first then it just sucked watching your 8 dollar tw get ruined prolly lost around 60$ in tw baits

man i wish i did save it now, but at the time i was so freakin pissed they kept breaking hard baits it cut it off and threw it in the water! i KNOW they had some hog trout there i just couldnt fish it right because of all the sharks , water clarity was there, nice sized bait was there, moving water, slight over cast for throwin that TW and a **** load of bag arse sharks . next time im riggin a rod with cut bait heavy line and leader and a big circle hook and just let that thing drag behind the boat when i get it to the top im snaggin him on the top of the head with a super spook and cuttin the line so he has to swim around with some head jewlery!

it is very very rare to get them to mistakingly eat a artificial, prob a jack or big shark. We fowl hooked one several years ago while trolling and could not stop him with a 80 wide.

i caught a trout last week on the beach and reeled in just a head ..... didn't see what it was but pretty sure it was a black tip or gray reef shark b/c i have caught both on the beach....... oh and a buddy of mine caught a black tip on a skitter-walk last summer and several hardheads
