you can coat it with a two part epoxy primer(gray) which is as tough as it gets..mix small batches, rolling it on and throw you a little sand in it as you coat it..absolutely the cheapest route, do-it-yourself way that will last as long as the boat will..You can go to a local auto-paint supply an ask for it in PPG.I covered my old kenner with this, it mixes 1-1 which was two usable gallons.
