The trout fishing around grand isle is not so good....you have to go north, the trout are in the marsh. But if you hit the passes you can tie into some of the best bull red fishing right now.

I have fished some reefs right north of Grand Isle.
My brother in law has a camp at Tahiti East and we go North past the first island and you will see some PVC pipes up there. There are always a lot of boats there too. Another reef is right East of the ship channel. There were PVC pipes around this reef also. Then a couple miles North of the reef on the East side of the ship channel, there is a big reef with a tower on it. Look close on this chart and you can see some of them. http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/11358.shtml |

Ok I'll chime in.
As of last week one of my more reliable conections was still catching a few big trout in the SURF at elmers??? Also, If it was moi, I would trailer and fish leville instead of grand isle proper. The trout have /are moving up into the marsh and the fishing should be better north of fourchon than around the island. Also if i was going this weekend i would leave the boat at home as the wind is going to be pretty bad and i know lots of spots to catch trout , reds and flounder from the bank. |

I have been fishing with Bob G. with Between the Banks. We fished Castete Island, 4 piles reef, and Northwest rigs. That is the names of the places I can remember out of Leeville.

This time of year Bob is fishing about a 1/2 mile from boudreauxs motel.
No need to run far, Just find the new drop offs into the deep water in the new canals. ![]() |

It would be a long run from Grand Isle but you could catch Golden Meadow on your way down south. Catfish lake is usuallly good from now until early December. If you fish the lake, focus on the reefs (which are marked with PVC) on the north west shorline on the opposite end of bayou blue. The sulphur mine is also good but crowded. The canels around the suphur mine can pay off this time of year.
Lastly, you can get on a good bite in the leeville area which is managable from Grand Isle. Focus on north Baratira bay, there are tons of reefs in the area. If you can cross the bayou to the west, little like has birds this time of year. I grew up fishing this area, the fish should be all over. I think you will have a hard time finding trout down south near the island this time of year in traditional summer spots, head north. Good luck |
