Nothing about Speck limits. Nothing on wood ducks during teal season. They mentioned doing more research on whistling ducks.

Mottle ducks will remain at 1 based on population and harvest data.

He seemed pretty optimistic about the Teal limit, but the Feds are not exactly friends of the Bayou State right now with the Snapper war going on.

Default woodies in teal

If we get woodies in teal season the number of days would drop significantly. Main concern by feds is large duck kill during teal season. I don't think many people want to lose days for woody in the bag limit.

Okay that was a debate in the blind this year more than once. Are try legal to shoot? I hear I heard yes in Texas my buddy says they are legal to shoot here? What's the limit? Also Are they in aggregate with your duck limit?

During big duck season, you can shoot 6 whistling ducks, not during the early teal season.
Yes, they count against your 6 duck limit

in the waterfowl pamphlet for big duck season, you will see the species of ducks that have different limits than 6 (canvasback, pintail, mallards, mottled ducks, redheads, etc.), everything else not listed is 6 (teal, fulvous whistlers, black-bellied whistlers, gadwall, ruddy ducks, even crazy things like scoters, oldsquaw and eiders if you happened upon them)

We had a few squealers at our place in Klondike. But I hunted with my buddy Danny a few times in grande chenier and they were ate up with em. It was ridiculous! Glad to confirm they are legal although I won't be shooting any. The ones we killed last year we cleaned and I found they didn't have much meat on the bone to em.

I really like the refuge forums, good site. To bad we can't post about salty Cajun on the Louisiana site we could use a few more duck hunters on here.

It used to be a lot better before it was bought out.
