After having "the last straw" with diesels when my Chevy Duramax did the "reduced engine power" thing, only to start the "water in fuel" thing a week later, then get it out the shop after dropping the fuel tank and finding no water at all, only to have the "reduced engine power" thing again - I was done!
I went to a Dodge with Hemi and loved it, but found it liked the gas pump (because of my driving habits) only to have the rear end lock up with 80K miles. After fighting Dodge over warranty issues and $8k in repair bills, which they finally covered, I traded it on the Ford F-150 Ecoboost. I only wish I read the fine print on fuel mileage. Again, with my driving habits, I average 16mpg all the time, but cover mostly highway miles. Nice truck, rides great, but I was sure dreamin of 20mpg. Not sure what the next one will be. I may go with a Ford with V-8. |

I have a 2011 F-150 with the 5.0, getting around 16 everyday and 19-19.5 on the hwy. |

what package is your truck? you have to watch the lots because theres alot of 3.31 rear gear trucks which get better milege but not as good to tow a load.... I want a 4x4, 3.73, ecoboost with the max tow package and 6.5 bed which I would expect around 14 town and 18 hwy but its rated at 11, 100 towing capacity

Yeh EcoBoost mileage sucks. And I need a 3/4 ton. My buddy has a brand new tricked out Tundra. It's sweet, just not enough truck for me.

I'm not one to complain about mileage on a 4x4 truck. It's only the last few years where they have gotten decent. Like I said almost 15 in town and 17 -18 hwy depending on how I'm acting. I have a intake on it but that's it. The cylinder deactivation on the Chevys and stuff make it good on the hwy but average everywhere else. The back seat in a tundra is just barley bigger than ford and I don't ride back there. The front leg room on the f 150 is bigger. The tundra has a riveted together frame which is scary sounding but I haven't heard any problems.

I have the ecoboost, 4x4, 3.73 gears, 6.5' bed, can tow 11,300lbs! If I keep my foot out of it I get 16mpg in town 18-20 mpg on highway. Last trip was to Florida, 19mpg. The torque on this truck is unbelievable, really fun to drive. Like any half ton the mpg goes way down while towing. There is 2trip meters on the display. One I have been running since the beginning of the year, 15.8 mpg 380 gallons used, I do a good bit of towing. The other I reset every tank, currently 19.8 mpg 7.1 gallons used. I have checked the meters on occasion and the most they have been off is +\-.5mpg.

Was going to take a few pics of the display. My wife said she wanted to see how far it was to a friends house, now they both read the same, only about 6 miles on them. I kind of wanted to see the yearly fuel consumption.

I had a 2012 ecoboost 4x4 crew cab and i was getting 14mpg average but when pulling my 24' bay boat i was getting 7-8 mpg average. And thats pulling at 65. Traded that truck in on a 5.7 tundra and couldnt be happier.

Mines sucks on fuel towing too but you can't be better in a tundra ? I got the same 7-9 mpg with my tundra pulling.

I imagine 9-11 mpg towing would be about average for gas or diesel with a decnt load

My f250 diesel gets just over 10 pulling my 11;000 like 5th wheel 14 or so with my 25 foot very heavy bay boat. I get 19 or so if I drive 74 or below but 78 and over it drops down to 16.
