Read a report the other day about someone looking for sheephead and were having trouble finding them. So, I thought it would be a challenge since I personally haven't fished them in a long time. Called up good friend, Gavin Maxwell to see if he was willing to give it a try. Our first stop produced nothing but a limit of reds and some puppy drum. Our second stop is were we found what we were looking for. Sheephead every cast. We left them biting once the ice chest was full. All fish caught South Dularge on bait shrimp. Another Great Day spent with great company. Good Luck Fishin'!

To me, Reds and Sheephead are easier to clean with a manual fillet knife.
They will kill an elect. fillet knife and/or blades with a lot of fish.
Sheephead are a lot better eating than Reds, in my opinion.

If you want to use an electric knife on reds or drum or sheephead learn the method i use. Start at the tail cut in to the back bone just like you normaly would then go towards the head. when you get to the rib cage just roll the blade up and around the ribs.
this way you are cutting under the scales instead of trying to cut through them.
Once you get the hang of fileting this way it will seem so simple.

Scaulp are good if you cook them butterballs seperate from the other ducks.
They have a lot of fat on them. They make the other ducks taste like they do.
