No...if you viewing this tv from aprox 8 ft away you probably will not tell the difference b/t 1080 and 720.

The closer you get you will see more detail with a 1080p such as hair, skin blemishes, etc. The farther away you get you will not see that...the 720 will not put out as much detail but from far away it doesn't matter anyway!

Its in your price range, its a good quality plasma and you will be amazed at HD picture! Its right for you!

It will play Bluray and high def content (1080p) but it will be "scaled" down to 720p...you will lose some detail like I explained above. But if your not a picture "junkie" you probably couldn't tell the difference!
