Default Landing in Hackberry

I don't know the name of the landing, nor any street names in the immediate area, other than "Elender" cause that's where we put our camper - check it out in the picture... I'm wanting to know if anyone knows why the landing has been closed. For us, it's close to our camper and is good, fast access to the lake. Just wondering what's up out there...

Part 2. What's up with the bar "The Speckled Trout?" Anyone know anything about this place? Cool place to hang out, get a drink, food? What's up?

The public launch is closed due to repairs. They are supposed to widen the ramp.

They are supposed to be rebuilding the public landing, there is another
private one farther South.

Speck bar is just o.k. Nothing fancy, just a hole in the wall honky tonk.
Lots of locals and a few out of town fishermen go there.
It is mostly a drinking establishment. Don't go there looking for chicks.

I posted a thread a few months ago about the Ellender ramp and this
one being rebuilt with federal funds, but I don't know how to find it.

Darn, They are working on the Ellender launch, the Hackberry public launch and the Hog Island launch all at the same time. That takes some planning. Is Spicer's still open? What about Davis's? Joe Dugas was open the last time that I was there. They have limited camper parking spaces. The West Cove Canal launch in Sabine Refuge is open, watch out for shallow reefs (ask Ray). I thought the watering hole in Hackberry was the Speckled Pup. Brown's grocery is a much safer stop. Good people there.
I talked with a fisherman last week who launched at Hebert's during the LOW tide and couldn't get out into the lake.

Dugas landing is rough & shallow, tough on bigger boats especially low tide.

Did the camper spots ever open back up? Right after Ike I talked to the guy, several of us offered to help him get it back up & running, he was waiting on FEMA, when I left 9 months later it hadn't been touched.
