Your yamaha is a four stroke,right? Im pretty sure mikedatiger bought a 2 stroke. Break in is not the same with a 2 and 4 stroke. Yamaha also runs there motors alot longer at the factory before there shipped off in a crate.

let's see:

1st hour
A. Run engine at varied throttle settings between 3000 and 4500 RPM. Check
B. Change engine speed approximately every two minutes. Check
C. Short throttle bursts of full throttle for periods up to 10 seconds are acceptable. Didn't run full burst at all 1st hour.

Next 3 hours
A. Change engine speed every ten minutes. Check
B. Cylinder failure. FAIL

They hooked it up to the computer and said "You did everything by the book"
