Shallow Water Redfish Action
Plan B was put into effect early this AM as soon as we hit Sister Lake. Myself along with my crew did not want to make the long run offshore in the choppy conditions. No good reports from the day before made it that much easier to chase the reds in the duckponds. I enjoyed fishing today with Ernie, Greg, Chase Bergeron and Bobby Senton. The ponds were shallow and a lot lower than I like to fish them in a 24ft boat. We managed to get around although the grass was a big problem in some areas. The slimy grass has exploded throughout most of the ponds with the clear water. The crew caught 25-30 reds with about half exceeding the 16in. mark. LSU chubs and white Hum- Dinger spinner baits did the trick. We had a few double & triple hook-ups to make it interesting. The ponds are loaded with shrimp right now as we had them skipping all around the boat the entire morning. Too bad the shrimp season has been postponed until further notice. Did not hear of any good reports from off the coast this morning so it was a good choice to chase the reds. Looking forward to getting back on the trout as soon as it calms down again. Good luck fishing.
