Default Hopedale/Delacroix Info.

We usually fish Golden Meadow for reds this time of year, but that is not gonna happen. Does anyone have any suggestions on where me and my Dad could go and catch a fair amount of redfish? I was thinking possibly Hopedale/Delacroix. Realize we are limited by boat size (16 ft Triton aluminum). Thanks for any help or suggestions. By the way any lodging suggestions would be helpful as well.

You can launch out of Breton Sound Marina south of Chalmette. If you look up the Marina it will come up on Google. I would suggest buying a map of the area (available at the marina or at Academy) to familiarize yourself. You can leave out of the marina and take a right down Bayou LaLoutre towards Pip's canal and fish all the banks in Hopedale Lagoon and Lake Ameda. You can take a left out of the Marina and cross the MRGO heading towards Bayou St. Malo. Take a left at St. Malo and fish any cut to the right or left again working the banks. These areas produced a ton of redfish for me last summer. Be careful in the St. Malo cuts there are tons of stumps and logs. As far as lodging there is not much if any in that area.

Ditto on the above, go down any bayou or canal and fish the shorelines and ponds. That's my favorite places, and I fish in a 15' flatboat with a tiller 25 Yamaha. We are going Sunday, if you'd like to tag along.

Oh, and Capt Ben Leto can probably rent you a bunk or two. Also, try Bigfish Charters for a room. There is also a place that has a few trailers for rent, but no name and I don't have the phone #.

There is an excellent trout bite right now at the end of the short rocks. Live shrimp carolina rigged or very long leader w/popping cork (less fish but less break-offs). Good luck

I would call capt Ben Leto and talk to him. He has a place on the way to BSM and he may even have an open spot at his dock where ya can park ya boat.

sounds like you need to rig you up a sliding cork rig

Thanks for the info guys. I wish I could go where we always do because we know the area well, but until the closures are lifted we are going to have to go someplace new.
