That is an absolute beautiful dog, I would love to some day have one that looks that good.

Reputible breeders almost never, ever breed their dogs since there are so many studs out there that do more for the breeding.
$1,000.00 will get you a well bred dog with clearances if you know where to look. I have seen some great pedigrees going for less than that, currently it is a buyers market for puppies. Don't fall into the gotta have it now trap. Puppies are a long term committment and bad hips, eyes, eic, cnm can make an expensive proposition unbearable financially.

Buying Backyard Bred dogs is akin to having a nice bay boat and hooking a 1970 Chrysler on the back. Please do your homework and if you have questions P/M me.

19 Litters in 2010 (WTH!) This place is a Puppy Mill if I have ever seen one. Guy got burned out on Field Trials because he could not train well enough to be a Playa.
Never see these guys advertise based only on their animals, they always have to Low Rent the American dog based on Illogical Reasoning.

My 3 Labs were back yard bred. I knew the parents of all of them.
Pure hunting dogs, straight from heaven.
None of these were field trial dogs, just hunting dogs.
I got the first 2 free. The last one I traded an old fridge from my camp for him.
The free ones did better than the fridge dog. They were females. They had better obedience. The male was a hand full.

There is a test you can do to a pup to see if he pays attention and how well behaved he will be later in life.
I am not sure if it is bull or not. But I have friends who use these tests before buying a dog.

Ray, I don't doubt it at all. I have trained plenty of Questionable pedgree Labs; BYB bought in pet stores, mall parking lots, junkyards and most poorly cared for. There is no disernable difference between males or females for training. I prefer to train dogs that are just on the edge of Out of Control. Makes training much more fun IMO but I know what I am doing and how to get through the training program. I can tone down a High dog but can't do the opposite with a "Piggy" one. Athletically talented dogs with moderate intelligence win out over smart untalented types on the training field.
One last thing to add, there is no difference in the training that goes into a Field trial dog and a gundog. I train off of the same program for the first six months, after that the world changes.

I can say this from owning two choc labs, one male and one female. The females get just as emotional as your wife when they come in heat. Won't listen to any thing and does what she wants.

I prefer males that are more hyper. You can always point them in a direction if they are running 100 mph, but you can not make a dog work if they don’t want to.

I see a trend in your training program....your obedience is not strong enough.
