Default Bl 7-16-10 no luck

Launched a Heberts this morning bout 8 and headed down east bank. Water and wind was pretty bad. Went behind weirs and tried for flounder with no luck. Talked to a few peeps and no one was catching at grand or Lamberts. Caught a livewell full or swimps and headed out west to old jetties area. NO luck still. Went to washout and caught 2 nice trout. Water was pretty on that end but not many people around catching mutch. Went down ship channel and tried a few spots, but had no luck. Water was moving out at about 10 or 11 AM. With all this bad luck I dropped my rod and real in water. Swam for 30 mins and found it. What is the best way to keep it from rusting till I get it to the shop? We even tried to crab at lambert and grand and nothing. That is one bad trip!!!!
