Nice pics. Gerald. I'm not big on hunting piney woods but it gives me a chance to hunt 2 weeks before our bow season starts in our club so i will be there. Everyone I have talked to said the deer dont really show up to the acorns early in the season and that they are in the pine plantations. dont know how true that is though?

Same here....I prefer hunting the swamp, but no mosquitoes in the early season makes the Piney woods a good choice.

I got a spot with 3 Cow oaks and a big Red oak all close together. The Deer do come to oak trees during the early part of the season.

Go to the right, take the second road to the left. Stop at the 3 rd trail that goes to the right. Walk ~ 3/4 mile, then........????? You are there.

Scout....Scout......Scout

Then it takes lots of walking, some "huntin skill" and some luck.....to find good spots.

When this heat wave cools down some......it will be time to scout.

I will only have one day to scout but I have been going over a topo map of the area and have narrowed down a area where I se 4 large creeks meet up. Hopefully I dont get there and it is in the middle of a big clear cut. I will spend all day the friday before it opens scouting so hopfully I fing some promising sign.
