Default V/B, Marsh Island Reds Help

Hey Guys, I am familiar with Vermillion Bay, fishing around the Avery Canal, four mile cut, point, etc. Can anyone give me some tips for targeting reds in Marsh Island or other parts of V Bay. Are there certain canals in the island that are better

That's tough everybody's pretty hush hush about v/bay, me included. I will tell you though go to the island, fish drains, and points, and I like using gulp new penny under cork with a 1/4oz lead head. Be carefull with the canals you go down some are very shallow at the beginning some get shallow in certain areas. the best way to do it is to go on high tide and enter the canals slowly. The worm is a good area to start, then work your way west to Bird Island Bayou, where the Game Wardens camp is.

What size boat do you have? The bay can get wicked in no time. Good spots include bayou michael, chene, bird island, ect. Pretty much any of the canals and drains in marsh island is good for reds and flounder. Like OV said, enter the cuts and canals slow. I fish out there often, the best tool for getting in the good spots is a push pole. For baits I use manns minus 1 crankbaits and gulp swimming mullet.

Thanks Guys. I have a 17ft tracker side console with a 50. We often fish out of my buddy's 20ft express bay boat. I have been itching to go exploring around inside the island. I love to catch reds.

You should be good in either boat... Just take your time learning it... ***IMPORTANT*** remember that just because you ran down a canal during the summer on a high tide doesn't mean that you can run down the same canal in the wither with a high tide if there has been a stiff north wind... best advice I can give you is to pay attention to where the water is in relation to the marsh grass. I had to learn that the hard way. Have fun at the Island it can be one of the most peacefull places on earth.
