when it comes to basic dishes, but there are a lot of good places to eat. Has been a while since I've been there, but if you like steak, the Rib Room in the Royal Orleans is a classy place with large portions of prime rib. The Grill Room is another fancy place in the Windsor Court Hotel on Gravier Street which is the only 5-star hotel in the city. Believe the hotel is partly owned by the Manning family. Mother's is a good po-boy and lunch place on Poydras. Have eaten at Masperos on Decatur for lunch and it was good. Will try Johnny's on St. Louis next week when I go. Don't have any info for Bourbon Street since I always stay away from there! Guess the Drago's restaurant previously mentioned is in the Hilton by the Riverwalk?

The best guide to restaurants in Nola is at.. http://www.nomenu.com/joomla1/index....197&Itemid=204, this fella has a radio show every day for 3 hours and all he talks about is eating in New Orleans.

I've never eaten there but my Mother used to love mothers, and she says the same thing. She's in Downtown NOLA 3 to 4 times a month.

I forgot about Mothers. Great lunches and Po Boys.
I used to work a couple blocks from there. Deany's in Bucktown was good too. Not sure if it is still there. |
