I don't think there is such a thing as a reel that requires absolutely no maintenance...If you do no maintenance at all, it will only last you a few years, then you have to replace it...We oil and lube ours at least once a year(sometimes more if someone decides to go swimming

So Reddy, the definition of a good reel is one you can abuse and neglect and it will still work??? It not like the reel can be smooth after the abuse and lack of cleaning.... There is a big difference between a smooth reel and one that "works"..... Out of the box, a Curado doesn't hold a candle to a CORE....

Out the box...Core is better than a Curado....But use them the same about of time with out cleaning and see which one holds up better...... I have only used a Core once..Nice reel but I was talked out of buying one by the Shimano dealer I use.....He said it was not a saltwater friendly as the Curado!!! I have also heard that from other guys......
