Yak 'em, Bass Cat will void the warranty on a JP over 6". They may allow an 8", but I'm not positive on that. The JP is supposed to be held with 6 bolts. The hydraulic allows you to raise the motor for shallow idleing (*sp) in tidal waters or especially at Toledo Bend, so you don't have to trim your motor way up and can avoid some stump. I have a BC Cougar I take to Lake Martin. I'll jack up the motor and take off, while getting up, i'll push the button lowering it. It makes it nice for shallow take off. It's a Bob's btw.
