Default New Truck

Looking at buying a new or newer truck. It WILL be a Ford. Don't care to hear all the hype about chevy, dodge, toyota etc. Looking at the new ford F-450 with 6.7 diesel or a 2009 F-450 with the 6.4. It has only 14,000 miles and is a king ranch loaded. Both are FX 4. I would like information on the pros and cons of each engine. I hear the 6.4 has problems but don't know. I would also like to know how long the exhaust fuel lasts in real life and the MPG of each engine. If you have either or know someone that does I would really appreciate the information. Thanks in advance.

450??? Wow. That's what most of the mechanic trucks are that carry a lot weight in tools & equip, real heavy duty suspension = rough ride

Also considering the 350. Just found a good deal on the 450 used. If buying new it will probably be the 350. Mainly need information on the 6.7 with the exhaust fuel. Been told that the 6.4 is not good on fuel and that the 6.7 is. Thanks

I have the 6.7 and it has exceeded my expectations. I am averaging over 17mpg and that includes a lot of city driving. Highway is over 20. I know several people that have/had the 6.4 and either sold them or complain about them all the time - mpg is terrible.

6.7 is a beast and is the quietest diesel on the road.

My 2008 F250 FX4 gets 13.7 religously. Other than that I love it.

Okay, looks like the new 6.7 it is. Can anyone tell me a good dealership to buy from. Don't mind driving to get a deal. Live north of Baton Rouge. Have not been able to deal around here. Have bought in Alexandria, McComb Miss. Lacompte. Maybe a new car managers name or a fleet manager to save on commission. Can buy chevy's at fleet prices at Gerry Lane Chevrolet but do not know any Ford sales people. Decided on a F-350 with the 6.7 Bottom of the line Lariat 4 X 4. If anyone wants a new or used chevy let me know. I can hook you up. No sales commission. No haggle.

Just got a new 250. Love it. At 70 mph I get 17 mpg. At 55 or 60 I can get 19 or 20 or better if i am on cruise control

My 08 F350 4x4 604 will get a little better than 14 empty running right @ 70. With my trailer it will dip down to high 11's and I think that's what I get in town too. Had a turbo @ 70k and an injection pump at 82K nothing else. I would go with the new 6.7 if it was me.
