Default Newbie going to Henderson..need help!

A friend of mine told me about the houseboats at Cypress Cove so I booked one for March 13th. I am bringing my 2 boys (ages 9 and my oldest is 12 today!). I am bringing my own boat. My kids love to catch white perch or any other fish for that matter. Just wondering what to look for and maybe where to get a good map. I figured I would make up a few jugs also, and maybe a couple of crawfish traps....is this feasible? Can't seem to find much current info on the internet. Thanks in advance.

Welcom to Henderson. Jake with Kern's Landing. You can pick up a good map of the Basin at M&M Grocery & Bait. Comming from I-10, after you turn at McDonalds, you will be on the main road into Henderson. M&M's will be about 1 mile on the right. Good luck and come visit while your in the area.

My two boys on the left....they are really looking forward to the trip! Hoping the water is falling while we are there, and hoping to not get lost!

Hard to get lost in the Henderson Swamp area.

You can always hear the traffic on I-10. The area is mostly fairly open. Stay in the boat lanes when running. Lots of stumps in most areas off to the side of the open water lanes.

Good place to set out the jug lines is Kern's Pit, first landing on the levee. The jugs can't get away from in there and not much to get hung on. Also a good spot to fish while watching them. Water looks better in that area right now, you should be able to find some fish. Good luck

Thanks for the info guys. Absolutely can't wait for the trip. My kids are excited about staying on a houseboat. Hopefully they can catch some bream and whatever off of the boat at night
